Computer training center

EMPLOYABLE AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS

Computer-training-centre -yhfg

Thousands of at-risk youths & young adults in Northern Ghana have never used a computer, let alone receive any basic training or education in ICT skills. Through the computer training centre, unemployed youths and school dropouts are able to become productively engaged and better qualified to obtain jobs that were previously unqualified for. The centre is also open to youth in schools.

The youth of the participating schools have computer lessons once a week and get a certificate after having completed the classes. In addition, children who are members of the Harvest clubs can use the internet for free twice in a week for 30 minutes. There is a clear need for this form of training which is available principally at commercial prices and beyond the reach of many youths.

Through our computer centre, Young people are provided with free training in basic computer skills, office applications & Internet usage. Group interactions, mentoring, discussions and question & answer sessions help to reinforce learning. This training will effectively equip them to obtain jobs by providing the vital proficiency/skills needed.

The long-term objective is to transform the lives of the participants by broadening their options and offering new opportunities. Young people become computer literate and proficient – and consequently viable and competitive in the marketplace. They are empowered to take their place in society.

Moreover, the internet services, photocopying, typing, printing and scanning services are open to the general public outside training hours to generate a small income for the sustainability of the centre.
