In our desire to contribute to achieving SDG 13, YHFG through the POKA project has embarked on a tree planting exercise in the Bolgatanga Municipality and Bolgatanga East district.
The trees include both ecoonomic and non-economic trees in some selected schools. For the first phase, the exercise covers 10 basic and senior high schools. Students and teachers were excited about the initiative and actively participated in the exercise.
Students were sensitized on the symbiotic relationship between plants and human life and the need to plant and protect trees to preserve the environment and human life. What is exciting about this activity is that, YHFG has put in place an award scheme to award schools with the highest number of trees surviving. Appreciation goes to the Bolgatanga Forestry Commission for assisting us with the technical expertise in this year’s tree-planting exercise.
